Asterism (2012)
A short artistic film of intertwining first experiences; Jane Stone, a strange and nervous but sadistic young woman parallels losing her virginity to the experience of shooting her first deer as an impressionable young girl with her uneasy father.

I’m sure you recall me talking about as well as sharing a few pieces of the script for my Short Film for Bob Giraldi’s The Project Class — “Asterism“
Despite many problems, re-castings and various other troubles I managed to get it casted, found a crew, shot it, directed it, get it edited, sound mixed and color corrected successfully!
It was an amazing experience, my actors were better than I could have asked for and my cinematographer, Phil Nolan, is a great friend and talented young man whom I enjoyed working with very much. We shot on my Aunt’s farm in South Jersey during the first week of April. With nature surrounding us and being able to explore a mansion and the Delaware river we all bonded immensely and enjoyed every moment together.
Asterism was shown on the big screen at the Five Film Makers Festival back in early May. It was a very strange feeling to see it so large and so loud right in front of me and so many other people. Many friends, my family and a few actors showed up to watch both mine and my four other classmates films in a celebration of hard work.
I am so grateful for all of my friends and family who supported me through it all. It made the hardest parts a little less hard and the happiest parts a little more happy. I hope you, if I may call you my fans, will enjoy it as well.
Thank you,
Samantha Russo
